Now that the Polar Vortex has calmed down a little and we're no longer living in what basically looks like The Day After Tomorrow, we can get back to thinking about hairstyle ideas that won't be totally smothered by hats, ski masks and such like. Cue: the "hair tuck" trend, as seen on the runway at Mulberry's A/W 2013 show in London.
Now, is it just us or is the EASIEST, coolest-looking thing ever? It's just so simple!
How & why
To get the look, you just stuff your shoulder-length or longer hair into your coat/jacket/gilet/sweater/scarf/shirt/onesie and you end up with what looks like a whole new, shorter, bouncier hairstyle. Ends become slightly rounded, hair looks fuller and a beautifully sleek face frame appears as if by magic. It's essentially the lazy girl's answer to the faux bob and it's brilliant.
As originally intended, this hair trend works very well with long straight hair. This might be because it creates such a radically different look - people really do think you've had your tresses chopped off until they get a good look up close - and also manages to maintain a minimalistic vibe.
As you can tell, the hair tuck is very much the opposite of the big voluminous hair trend.
Make it your own
For anyone who likes to sport a little extra detail in their hairstyles, it's pretty easy to wear this trend with a few carefully hidden mini braids, too. With no more than two or three, it's possible to put a slightly girlier spin on the look without changing the texture too much.
Will you be trying the hair tuck anytime soon?
