Getting bangs is a serious business. Just like getting a short cut, it can be hard to know whether you want to do it for real... without doing it for real. That said, you can road test a potentially fantastic fringe to a certain extent. Even if all you learn by doing so is that you definitely don't want bangs after all, at least you can say you tried.
So, how do you try bangs without really trying them?
Introducing faux bangs. Essentially just a really side-swept side sweep, faux bangs will help to create a new frame for your face that you can adjust and control with a little product and a bobby pin.
Get the look
Step one
Part your hair deep on one side, using a tail comb for accuracy, choosing whichever side looks and feels best to you. Comb your hair through afterwards to fix the part in place.
Step two
Take a flexible hold product like L'Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle TXT IT Hyper Fix Putty, then warm a very small amount on your fingers.
Step three
Arrange the side-swept hair so it falls over your forehead, just like a regular side-swept fringe would. If in doubt, copy the style on the model in the photo above.
Step four
Use a bobby pin to secure your "bangs" just above the top of your ear, or slightly behind it if you prefer.
Step five
Make any final adjustments with your hands then complete the look with a veil of hairspray. If you want, you can gather the rest of your hair into a side pony or braid for a more styled finish.
What do you think? Will you be trying some faux bangs of your own?
