The fashion world is currently obsessed with wet look hairstyles, as it has been for several consecutive seasons now. It's certainly a beauty trend right now, just not one that a lot of people find accessible enough to actually try. On the other hand, it does open up more possibilities for people with medium-length hair or shorter to rock an updo without everything falling down.
Not only that, wet-look hair works on any hair length and can be really useful for hiding (read: flattening) bad hair days while simultaneously creating a seriously fashion forward look.
Something to think about
Unlike the model featured opposite, a wet-look updo doesn't have to be super slick... unless you want it to be! Instead, you can rock a more understated version with a low-shine deconstructing gum for a more real life-friendly style.
Get the look
All you need to create your own wet-look updo (even if you're just test-driving it in front of the bathroom mirror) is a jar of Advanced Hairstyle TXT IT Deconstructing Gum, a tail comb and a few bobby pins if your hair falls below your chin.
Step one: Take a tail comb and define a deep side part.
Step two: Warm some gum in your hands. Place a little on your fingertips and then rub your hands together.
Step three: Work the gum back through your hair, running it from roots to ends. Add more as you go, stopping once all your hair is slightly wet-look and keeps its shape if you try to spike it up or muss it.
Step four: Smooth all of the hair back. Sculpt and twist it into a low bun and secure with bobby pins to finish.
