Headbands are great for all kinds of reasons and during the summer, they're pretty much indispensable when it comes to keeping our hair under control and hiding lackluster roots. Wonderful as they are, however, headbands tend to move around of their own accord, sliding out of position and throwing your entire hairstyle off kilter. So, what can you do?
How to keep your headband in place
1/ Dry shampoo
The easiest way to keep a headband in place is with some grip-enhancing dry shampoo and a few trusty bobby pins. Before putting your headband on, spritz your roots with Advanced Hairstyle BLOW DRY IT Longwear Spray and brush it out to make your hair less slippery. Spray your bobby pins with it, too, to give them better grip before using them to tack down that headband once and for all!
The second easiest way is by working with textured hair. Tousled, beachy waves tend to hold onto accessories much better than smooth, sleek strands, so try creating a mussed, wavy texture beforehand. All you have to do is apply Advanced Hairstyle TXT IT Tousle Waves Spray to dry hair and curl the lengths with a 1" curling iron. When you're done, tease the hair a little to add more texture and you're good to go!
3/ DIY headband
The third easiest way, which is kind of a compromise, is to tie a scarf or bandana around your head yourself, making sure the knot is nearer the top of your head than the nape of your neck. The nape is where everything bends and moves all the time, so by tying it at the top, you won't accidentally shift your headband when enthusiastically agreeing to something!
