Ponytails – in all possibly imaginable shapes, textures and forms – are going to be in huge trend throughout 2016. In this article, we feature the tiered ponytail – a chic but understated version of the low pony that can be created in five minutes and sported just about anywhere.
A tiered pony, also known as a layered pony, banks on tiny details and works best with medium-length to long hair. However, it does not involve complicated or time-involving styling techniques. You can dress it up with a ribbon for some added charm, tousle it to amp up the fun factor or leave it as it is for a more minimalistic look.
To create a tiered pony, you'll need:
- Strand smoother serum spray
- Fine-toothed comb
- Hair ties
- Hairspray
Get the Look
Step One
Mist your hair with strand smoother serum spray and comb the product through to make your hair soft, smooth, sleek and tangle free.
Step Two
Sweep all your front and top hair to the back of your head and secure it in a half-up ponytail using a hair tie.
Step Three
Gather the rest of your loose hair at the nape of your neck and merge the half-up ponytail into it. Secure both the sections together as the second low ponytail.
Step Four
Spritz your tiered pony with hairspray and you're good to go!
Apart from the workplace or for casual errands, the tiered ponytail is an ideal hairstyle to wear to the gym. If you have fine hair, work in a tiny amount of volume inject mousse through your strands prior to styling.
This style works well with straight, wavy and curly hair and you can add as many tiers as you want for a more detailed look.
