When it comes to dealing with frizzy summer tresses, the best strategy can be to let humidity think it's got you beat. So, put down your sword (flat iron) and embrace the extra volume. Then, use it to create a beautiful chunky braid which, without that excess frizz, would have been way more difficult! Who's laughing now, humidity?
To find out how to master this pretty plait, follow the tutorial below.
How to style it
If you're starting with wet hair, apply a thermal protectant like Advanced Hairstyle BLOW DRY IT Quick Dry Primer Spray, then rough dry your hair completely.
If you're starting with dry hair, skip to the next step!
Spritz the roots and lengths of your hair with a volumizing hairspray such as Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT High Lift Creation Spray, then gently backcomb the hair to get a uniform, full-bodied look.
Gently rake all of your hair back off your face with your fingers. Then begin loosely French braiding it, starting halfway down the back of your head.
Continue the braid all the way to the ends and secure with a large bobby pin. This will create a slightly messier, wilder look than using a hair tie.
Loosen the braid as desired with your hands. If you want to loosen the hair on top after securing the braid, gently slide your fingers underneath the hair, and slowly lift them upwards a little.
Complete the look with plenty of strong hold hairspray. A brushable product like Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray will give your braid plenty of staying power without making it crunchy.
