If you want to get ahead of the game when it comes to hot new hairstyle trends, taking a look at some great street style looks can be a great place to start. Take the two ladies featured above, for example. Both were snapped with gorgeous curls: one with long flowing mermaid tresses and the other with short, relaxed waves. The big question is, which on-trend style works best?

All about the texture
Waves come in all kinds of different shapes and sizes and right now, the bigger they are, the bigger, the better. Whether relaxed or glamorous, this kind of texture is gaining in popularity, both on the street and the red carpet. Maybe Fashion Week fever or the enchanting Awards Season atmosphere have something to do with it, but it's definitely a hair trend worth jumping on board with.
Top tip - For a polished look, apply Advanced Hairstyle CURVE IT Elastic Curl Mousse and then blow-dry using a diffuser. Take a large-barrel curling iron and curl hair up to the same height as the tops of your ears. Finger-comb and fix with hairspray to create defined, natural-looking waves.
With longer hair, waves and curls become more prominent, purely because there are more of them and there is more hair to play with (read: style). That said, a shorter crop can super chic, not to mention a whole lot less time-consuming! One thing that is blindingly obvious, however, is that curls and waves look really good on a multitude of hair lengths.
The verdict
It's hard to choose between these two looks so we'll be democratic about it and leave the decision making up to you!
