Slicked back hair is a sharp, polished look that can work on long, flowing tresses just as well as it can for shorter cuts. It's a very easy hairstyle to recreate and takes only a few minutes with the right products and styling technique.
This style is all about making a real impact with a look that will never fade into the background. Definitely not one for the wallflowers among you but, for anybody who is feeling especially brave, this could be just the hairstyle you've been waiting for. It's the perfect way to add intensity to your look and works really well with dark lipstick or intense eye makeup.
With the tutorial below, you can see just how simple it is to take this minimalist style for a spin.
You'll need:
A comb
Styling putty
Your fingers
Step one
Start by warming the styling putty by putting some on the tips of your fingers and rubbing your hands together. Then, run it through all of your hair, using only as much as you need.
Step two
Comb your hair through, sweeping hair away from your face so it hangs down your back.
Step three
Use your fingers to massage the roots on the top of your head. This will help to create lift.
Step four
If you want a lot of volume, use the comb to tease the roots, too.
Step five
Comb the sides of your hair flat. Then, run the comb very gently over the top of your head to smooth everything over, without crushing the volume you just created.
Step six
Finally, use your hands to sculpt and shape for any finishing touches you feel you need.
That really is all there is to it!
