Every summer, many people head to the salon in search of a shorter, more lightweight hairstyle. If you're thinking about doing the same thing but aren't completely sure about parting with your long locks, check out the short hair pros and cons below.
Short hair pros
One of the best things about a radically shorter haircut is that it completely transforms your look, especially if you've been wearing your hair long for a while. As for summer-specific reasons to try a cute crop, there are just so many! Short hair dries faster, requires less of everything - shampoo, conditioner, heat protectants, hairspray etc. - and takes less time to style. It all sounds pretty convincing, don't you think?
Short hair cons
One of the biggest short hair cons, especially if you're starting with much longer tresses, is that there's no going back after it's all chopped off. Another drawback is that braids and updos are also no longer viable styling options unless you go for something like a bob with a bit more length.
Our conclusion
In terms of sheer practicality, short hair is a really good idea for a summer. That said, if you aren't 100% convinced, work your way up to it by getting a shoulder-length cut, then a bob, then a full-blown pixie if you decide you're totally sure. You can also experiment with tromp l'oeil updos to create a temporary short cut that'll allow you to see how the real thing would look.
What do you think? Is a short haircut on the cards for you this summer?
