New York Fashion Week was full of great new hairstyle inspiration and, among the models on the DKNY runway, we spotted these two gorgeous short cuts. A short bob and daring hawk, both are totally edgy and guaranteed to stand out in a crowd.
The big question is: which style do you like best?
A brave look...
Some might argue that a hawk style is quite an 'out there' choice, not least because of the carefully shorn sides. No faux styling tricks to see here, people! However, with enough length on top, it can be shaped to look like a regular short cut or longish pixie until you get right up close and personal. It's also possible to further soften the punk factor by dressing a hawk cut down with subtle makeup and minimal accesories.
Even with that in mind, it may not be the right look for a super formal work environment.
A modern classic...
Short bobs became hot property with the rise of the jazz age in the roaring twenties, and has since become a timeless go-to short cut. Unsurprising then, that a model with such a look would be chosen for a high-profile show in 2014. The length of this style immediately draws the eye to the blunt ends while framing the face and throwing extra emphaisis on the eyes and cheekbones. Not only is is a little bit daring, it's also a style that can be worn anywhere - dressed up with intense makeup for a night out, or down with a more subtle look for a more daytime-friendly look.
Both of these styles are interesting short cuts to consider, if you are cosidering a radical new look, but the bob might just be a little more practical. On the other hand, the hawk has a super cool edge that you just can't get with any other look.
We'd still probably go for the bob if we had to choose a favorite, at least until summer. How about you?
