Now that updo season is upon us, having a couple of pretty chignons in your hairstyle repertoire is a really good idea. For anyone with medium or long hair, keeping your mane off the back of your neck is essential for avoiding the neck sweats (gross but true) and you may as well do that in style! This cute look will help you to keep your cool, whatever the weather.
It's also a gorgeous style for a job interview – or any other formal situation – that will keep your hair under control but still show off a certain amount of personality. Get the look with the tutorial below!
Step one
To get the sleek finish you can see on the model, apply Advanced Hairstyle SLEEK IT Frizz Vanisher Cream to damp hair and blow-dry using a paddle brush. This will eliminate frizz by smoothing the hair cuticle, leaving you with soft, touchable locks.
Step two
Once dried, brush your hair through. On each side, grab a large chunk of hair and twist it in towards the back of your head. Hold them both in place with your hands then tie all of your hair into a low pony at the nape of your neck.
Step three
Pull the hair elastic down an inch or two and create a hole with your fingers. Loop the pony through this hole then tighten the elastic again.
Step four
Pin the pony up into the chignon in several small sections. If it looks a little messy, that's fine; it just makes this style look extra romantic!
Step five
Tease a couple of pieces loose at the front to frame your face then mist your new chignon liberally with Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray to finish.
