Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! Whether you have a date, an engagement to celebrate or a Galentine's soirée planned, now is the perfect time to think about your hairstyle options for this, the most romantic of holidays! It all comes down to two main options, both of which are all about texture: minimalist chic or romantically mussed?

Fashion week fling
Naturally, we've been keeping a keen eye on the runways at New York's Fall 2014 Fashion Week and have fallen in love with all kinds of different updos. Two particularly wearable looks - especially for Valentine's Day - come courtesy of the ultra-chic Victoria Beckham show and Marchesa's more fairytale-like affair. As you can see, the minimalist look from the VB runway is just as pretty as the more textured look à la Marchesa. In fact, they were both quite similar looks. Each one helps to keep hair back off the face, showcase whatever gorgeous makeup the models and are both equally translatable from the catwalk to real life.
What we really love about these two hairstyles is the way both of them would work with any outfit, especially a carefully chosen Valentine's or Galentine's look! Because the hair is up, up, up and away, your face becomes the main attraction (as it is always meant to be!) Any jewellery you wear will also be thrown into the limelight, helping to create a beautifully elegant look for a romantic occasion.
Sleek vs. mussed
Sleek hair and tousled locks are easy textures to recreate when you know how, especially for an updo, something which makes choosing between them even harder.
To get super-straight locks for a polished style, simply blow-dry using a straightening cream, such as Advanced Hairstyle SLEEK IT Frizz Vanisher Cream, and a large-barrel brush. Check out our detailed tutorial for more info.
Alternatively, scrunch Advanced Hairstyle TXT IT Tousle Waves Spray through damp hair, twist, blow-dry and finger-comb for relaxed waves. We have an in-depth tutorial for that, too.
