Retro hairstyles are always on trend, whether it's 1954 or 2014. They're timeless by definition and, because of this, it's always good to have a retro look in your repertoire. Take this 1950's hairstyle, for example. Reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe's classic 'do, it's a must-try look for anyone with tapered shoulder-length hair!
It's a classic red carpet look and it's one that is now making a comeback on the runway, too. So, there are more reasons than ever to try this ultra-feminine, pin-up style.
What you need:
Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT Volume Inject Mousse
Tail comb
Blowdryer
Barrel brush
Wide-barreled curling iron
Step one
On damp hair, apply Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT Volume Inject Mousse evenly throughout. Then, use a tail comb to define a side part.
Step two
Blow-dry using a barrel brush to create a smooth texture. To find out more about how to do just that, check out our sleek blow-dry styling tips.
Step three
Take a large curling iron and, working section by section, curl hair. Pin the curls up while they cool to help maintain their shape (and make working on the rest of your hair a lot easier!)
Step four
Once cooled, let down your curls and gently finger-comb. Shape them as you want with your hands and then apply Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray to help your new 1950's 'do stay in place for as long as you need it to!
Top tip: For added volume on top, gently tease the roots after misting with hairspray, then gently comb over for a neat finish.
Old Hollywood glamor never seemed so easy!
