Would you try the platinum trend?

Though it's usually a look reserved for the more adventurous among us, platinum hair is considered a timeless classic. Perhaps made most famous by the iconic Marilyn Monroe, platinum is still a firm favorite among those who love vintage style. However, stars such as Gwen Stefani, Rita Ora, Michelle Williams, and even Miley Cyrus have brought it up to date recently and put the haircolor back on everyone's radar.

High style

We recently spotted platinum hair on the A/W runways of both Vivienne Westwood and Micheal Kors, so we think it's safe to say this head-turning style is set to be a major hair trend.

If you're wondering why you should try it, white blonde hair is a great way to set yourself apart from the crowd, it's a runway-ready look that will elevate any ensemble, the color will boost the natural hues of your eyes and lips but never compete with your beauty look, and finally, who doesn't want to look like they belong to House Targaryen?!

Haircare tips

If you've already gone platinum or are thinking of trying the trend, there are a few things to know about maintaining your new locks. Frequently processed hair requires much more attention, so be prepared to regularly apply moisture masks, smoothing serums, and always use heat protection!

Get the Look

So, you've got platinum hair and are looking for styling tips? Follow our tutorial to copy this look straight from the runway:

Step one: Starting with towel-dried hair, distribute Advanced Hairstyle CURVE IT Elastic Curl Mousse throughout and then let your hair air dry to avoid using heat styling tools.

Step two: Once the hair is dry, use your hands to smooth it back into a ponytail and secure it. Use your fingers to massage the scalp at the front/top of the head to create some volume. For an instant boost, spray the hair with Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT High Lift Creation before you tie it into a pony.

Step three: Using your hands, grab small sections of hair from the ponytail and then tuck the ends up and secure them with bobby pins. Once you've secured almost all of the hair, use a comb to smooth out the final section over all of the hair before securing it like the rest.

Step four: Spray your hair all over with Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray and you're done!
