Disheveled styles that show off a certain amount of natural texture are perfect for slightly longer men's haircuts. The omnipresent barbershop fade has done much to promote smooth, slick styles with not so much as a hair out of place, whereas a messier look helps to showcase any existing movement, or even build on it, to create an interesting yet laid back style. An artfully mussed side part is a prime example and certainly one worth trying out at home.
Perfect for those times when you need your hair to look styled but you don't want it to seem over-styled, this look only requires a few minutes, a wide-tooth comb and a jar of Advanced Hairstyle TXT IT Deconstructing Gum to achieve.
Scoop out a small amount of gum with your fingertip then warm it by rubbing your hands together. This will emulsify it, making it super easy to apply.
Work it into your hair, sweeping it from front to back then tackle the sides. Add more gum as needed but take care not to overload the strands. Use only as much as necessary because with a messy style, less really is more!
Muss your hair with your hands then use a wide-tooth comb to part it on one side. Choose whichever side feels more comfortable and/or looks best.
Use your hands to shape and tousle individual sections of hair within the confines of your new side part. The gum won't set hard so, if you need to, you can reshape your hair throughout the day. Once you're satisfied with the amount of texture, you're done!
What do you think? Could this be your new go-to disheveled look?
