L'Oréal Paris spokesperson Jennifer Lopez joined a star-studded lineup at the Fashion Rocks concert at the Barclays Center in New York City on September 9, but it was her hairstyle that stole the show on the red carpet! With her mane pulled up into a high pony, J-Lo's beauty look was dramatic and undeniably sexy.
The interesting thing about the singer's hairstyle, however, was the fact that it wasn't really a ponytail. It was a half-up 'do that left plenty of loose hair cascading down her back, creating the illusion of longer hair. Pretty smart, no?
If you're in the process of growing out your your own locks, try this style on for size to see what a longer, fuller-looking pony feels like!
Get the look
Step one
You want to start off with straight yet voluminous hair. So, beginning with damp hair, spray L'Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT Blow Out Heatspray evenly throughout and blow-dry using a paddle brush. Once the hair is roughly 80% dry, use a round brush to curve the ends. This will add extra movement to your pony later on.
Step two
Brush your hair through to smooth it down, then sweep it all back off your face. Divide it into two horizontal sections with 2/3 of your hair on top and the rest underneath. Secure the top half into a pony, keeping it level with the tops of your ears.
Step three
Spray your hair all over with Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray. To keep flyaways at bay, spray a little more onto the palm of your hand then firmly smooth down the hair on the top and sides of your head. That's it.
It really is that easy to cheat your way to longer (looking) hair!
