If you are looking for a quick and easy DIY trick to style your medium-length hair, we recommend a braided crown. You can make a mini crown braid on second hair day, without using too many hair products!
You can either plait two braids on either side of your head and make them both meet at the back, or go for a single braid, starting from one side of your head, and plait it right across your hairline to the other side to make it look like a headband. In this tutorial, we'll tell you how to make a braided crown with two braids.
To make a mini crown braid, you'll need:
- A fine toothed comb
- Bobby pins
- Hair elastics
- A frizz remover cream (for dry, frizzy hair)
- A fine hold hairspray
Let's get started!
Step one
Brush your hair to detangle knots.
If you have very dry hair, work in a small amount of frizz vanisher cream to make your hair look moisturized, smooth and shiny.
Step two
Make a straight middle part to divide your hair evenly into two sections.
Step three
Divide your face-framing hair on either side of the part into three equal sections.
Step four
Starting from the point closest to your hair part, plait the sections all the way down to the end to make two regular face-framing braids on either side of your head. Secure the braids with elastics.
Step five
Pull your braids back and wrap them around your head like a crown. Secure them with bobby pins.
Step six
Spritz some fine-hold hairspray to secure your simple, yet fashionable hairstyle!
This hairstyle takes 5-10 minutes to create, depending on the length of your hair. So, you can make it really quickly on rushed mornings and wear it to work!
What's even better, you can easily transform your braided crown hairstyle into a glamorous party updo! Just tie up all your loose hair into a low bun (please refer to the image above) and tuck in a couple of ornate hair pins to bling up the 'do!
