If you're looking for the perfect part, we have all the hairstyle tips you need right here. The first thing you have to do is find out where your hair falls naturally.
After washing, conditioning and towel-drying your hair, take your comb. Starting at the front of your head, comb towards the back in straight lines. Once hair is smooth, stop the comb a few inches from the hairline, and bump the hair forward to form a small pompadour shape. You'll notice where the natural part appears as you push the hair further forward and it splits.
Au naturel
If you want to use your natural part, use a tail comb and, with the long end, define your natural part, as if you were tracing a line across your head. It probably won't be totally straight (unless you're very lucky!) so you'll have to use the comb to move some of the strands to where you want them to be.
Take control
Don't let your hair be the boss of you. If you don't really like where your natural part falls (if it doesn't suit your face shape, for example), you don't have to keep it! Think of your hair like a pet: with a bit of training, it'll learn - even if it puts up a bit of resistance at the beginning!
Make a change... it's easy!
One option is to take a shower in the evening before you go to sleep. When your hair is still damp, part the hair where you want, comb it through and tie the hair back into a ponytail and leave it overnight. You will probably need to do this a couple times, but gradually the hair will learn its place!
Alternatively, use your blowdryer to fix your hair into its new position. Just make sure to use a protectant because too much heat can damage hair.
So, make 2014 a year for change!
