For anyone who likes to sleep as long as possible in the morning rather than getting up early to style their hair, braided chignons often tend to be uncharted territory/non-existent when it comes to convenient everyday hairdos. The thing is, there are a couple of easy braided looks out there that take only a few minutes to achieve and they look just as good if not better than their more intricate counterparts! This simple French braided style is especially straightforward and, as long as you have a basic level of dexterity, there's no reason why you can't master the look with a bit of practice.
FYI - Before you start, you may want to brush up on your French braid technique with our easy-to-follow guide.
Brush all of your hair through then sweep it back off your face.
Starting just above the crown of your head, begin your braid. Take three pieces of hair and place one over the other as you would at the beginning of a regular three strand braid.
The next time you bring a piece from one side into the middle, gather a small amount of loose hair with it as you do so. Repeat until all of your hair has been woven into the braid then keep braiding normally all the way down to the very ends. Secure with the smallest hair elastic you can lay your hands on.
Pull the braid out a little at the "elbows" and use your fingertips to loosen the style all over by gently lifting the hair at your scalp. Then, fold the braid back up over itself, tuck the ends in and pin. Pull a couple of wispy pieces loose at the front to frame your face and give your whole 'do a generous mist of Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray to finish.
It really is that easy!
