Wet look hair is a trend that not a lot of people feel brave enough to rock in the real world. It comes off as a little bit too 'runway' and therefore less than accessible for most of us. That said, it is a look that's a lot of fun to try, even if it feels totally bizarre!
If you want to try a hairstyle that is especially bold (read: guaranteed to stand out from the crowd), a wet-look chignon is a great way to go.
It's easy to style, it opens up your face - creating the perfect excuse to wear some interesting makeup - and it's perfect for hiding a bad hair day/unwashed roots. It's also a fast style to achieve because you don't have to heat style any texture or fix anything with hairspray! Much as the obvious list of cons is a reasonable stumbling block, that's an impressive stack of pros...
What you need:
Advanced Hairstyle TXT IT Deconstructing Gum
Wide-tooth comb
Bobby pins
Step one: Warm some Deconstructing Gum in your hands. Scoop out a small amount with your fingertips then rub your hands together.
Step two: Work the gum back through your hair until you have a good amount of hold and a visible low-shine effect.
Step three: Use a wide-tooth comb to part the hair to one side. Sweep the hair over your forehead to create some faux-bangs and pin near your ear.
Step four: Gather your hair at the back and twist it into something vaguely bun-shaped. Pin and sculpt as desired.
Step five: Use your hands for any final adjustments and to smooth down any especially unkempt areas. And you're done!
If you don't want to try such a full-on wet look hairstyle, try something with mixed wet and dry textures instead.
Happy styling!
