The word 'chignon' is really just a fancy French word for updo and, when you have especially long and/or thick hair, it can be a little difficult to figure out just how to get all of your hair into one. The main thing to remember is that it's all about getting as much hair as you can into the space available.
Twists are a great way to do this as you reduce the actual size of the hair, and they are easy to wrap into a chignon, bun, braid... whatever you want really. This simple low chignon is a great example of just how sleek, pretty and generally pulled together a twisted updo can look.
Keep reading to find out just what you need to do to recreate it on your own hair! (Maybe thinking of your head as a tiny studio apartment will help.)

Hair tie
Bobby pins

Step one: Apply Frizz Vanisher Cream to freshly washed, towel-dried hair and blow-dry with a round brush. Keep the airflow pointed downwards to encourage a smooth straight finish.
Step two: Once dried, apply Strand-Smoother Serum Spray to tame any flyaways and give an instantly sleek texture. Brush the hair back into a tight, low ponytail.
Step three: Split the pony into several sections and twist one. Once twisted, pin the section of hair up, winding it around as desired. Repeat on the other sections until all of the hair is pinned up, and make sure you cover the hair tie.
Step four: Finish with a mist of Bold Control Hairspray for long-lasting hold.
Happy styling!
