Choosing hairstyles for your bridesmaids can be almost as challenging as choosing the bridesmaids themselves! Do you choose their hairstyles for them? Do you let them choose? Should you all decide together? It's a minefield. Ultimately though, it's your big day and you should take whatever approach you want, as long as you're respectful of your bridesmaids' feelings.
So, how do you do that?
1/ Figure out your look first
First and foremost you need to be totally sure about what you, the bride, want to do with your hair before you can focus on anyone else's look for your big day! So, decide whether you want to wear your hair up or down, the kind of texture you'd prefer, and what kind of overall theme you'd like: beachy, boho, traditional, vintage, or anything else.
Once you have all of those things figured out, you can start thinking about your bridesmaids' hair!
2/ Talk to your bridesmaids
Get all of your bridesmaids together for brunch and let get them to explain the kind of thing they'd like to do with their hair. This might prove difficult as they'll probably feel like they're stepping on your toes, but you can fix that by reassuring them you value their input, and that it's actually super helpful!
Plus, it's a great excuse for brunch... as if one were needed.
3/ Coordinate, don't match
Matching bridesmaids hairstyles can be a little over the top, so if you do decide to embrace the team spirit approach, make sure your bridesmaids are all coordinated rather than copycats. Wearing the same headband or accessorizing with matching flowers can be done with several different hairstyles and will avoid accidentally steamrolling anyone.
After all, what works for one bridesmaid might make another feel self-conscious and uncomfortable all day long.
