Much as we would love to take a wash-and-go approach to our hair in the morning, the truth is air drying takes time and can leave our manes in a mess if we're not careful. So, what can be done to speed up the air drying process to create perfectly coiffed 'do? (We don't ask for much...)
1/ Shake excess water out
Before stepping out of the shower, flip your head upside down and shake out as much excess water as you can. This will leave less moisture for your towel to absorb afterwards.
2/ Use a microfiber towel
Swap your regular towel for a more absorbent microfiber towel or turban. Leave it wrapped up for a couple of minutes, or blot dry, to soak up most of the water and significantly reduce air drying time! Focus on the roots when blotting as they take the most time to dry when left to their own devices.
Top tip: Take care not to rub or ruffle your hair, however, as this can cause unnecessary damage and tangling.
3/ Comb your hair
Use a wide-tooth comb to detangle and smooth your strands after towel drying. Moving the hair around will help it to dry a little faster, just be gentle!
4/ Apply product
To minimize frizz as your hair dries apply a smoothing cream to the lengths and ends. You can use your hands, or comb it through again to ensure even distribution.
5/ Dry it overnight
If your schedule allows for it, wash your hair before you go to bed, then sleep with it in a loose braid to create heatless waves. For shorter locks, twist and pin your hair back, then shake it out in the morning. You can always do any necessary touch-ups with a curling iron in the AM!
