When you have naturally curly hair, air drying your way to the perfect texture can be tricky, but there is one way to do it that might give you the frizz-free, defined curls you want. Introducing plopping! If you haven't tried it already, this technique will give you soft, bouncy curls without heat.
How to style it
Step 1
You should start out with damp, not wet, hair, so use a microfiber towel to gently blot away some of the excess water when you step out of the shower.
Step 2
Apply a soothing product like Advanced Hairstyle CURVE IT Curl Taming Cream evenly throughout - it will absorb as your hair dries to encourage defined curls.
Step 3
Lay a cotton t shirt on a flat surface like your bed or a table. Flip your head upside down and gently lay your curls onto the middle of the t shirt.
Step 4
Roll the bottom of the t shirt toward your forehead, pull it around your hairline and hold it in place with your hand at the back of your neck.
Step 5
Gently fold the top of the t shirt over your hair and hold it at the nape of your neck, too.
Step 6
Pull the arms of the t shirt down snugly around the sides of your head, stand up straight, then twist the arms up toward your forehead.
Step 7
Tie the arms together into a knot and tuck in any loose corners. Then, leave your hair to dry all the way like that - you may only need half an hour or so, but some people leave their hair in plop mode while they sleep on it for the best results. To figure out what works best for you, you'll probably need to engage in a little trial and error.
Step 8
Release your curls and set them with Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray to prevent frizz and eliminate flyaways.
