How to Style Your Hair with a Flat Iron - Apart From Straightening It

Apart from relying on your flat iron to tame wavy hair and get instant poker-straight tresses, you can use the miracle heat styling tool in a variety of unique ways to lend magic to your mane. Wondering what else you can do with your flat iron? Read on...

1/ Crimp your hair

One of the easiest things that you can do with your flat iron is creating a beautiful crimped texture in your hair in a matter of minutes. Plait multiple braids in your hair and spritz the plaits generously with heat protectant hair spray. Run your flat iron along the lengths of the braids to set the pretty curves; gently untie the weaves and voila – you'll have a gorgeous mane of crimped hair! Mist the kinks with strong control hairspray to make their texture stay intact for hours.

2/ Create a sea-swept wavy texture

We've all straightened our wavy hair with a flat iron but did you know that the same tool can be used to create gorgeous, beachy waves in your mane? To prep your hair, mist it generously with tousle waves hairspray and divide it into 5-6 thick sections. Wrap each section all the way down to the tip around the plates of the iron, turning the tool away from your head. When done, let the section slide off the iron and repeat the step until all your hair is curled into loose waves. Break up the waves with your fingers for a more natural, lived-in texture and finish with a strong hold hairspray.

3/ Lend shine to dull hair

This might sound a bit counterintuitive, but a flat iron can instantly give your dull tresses a facelift! If you haven't had the time to shampoo your precious locks or are running later after a workout session, here's a quick trick to fix your hair. Spritz your strands generously with a good heat protectant hairspray followed by a shine inducing strand smoother serum. Divide your mane into multiple vertical sections; lay each section over one plate of your iron but don't clamp it. Instead, glide the iron along the length of your hair and repeat the step with all the sections to get a soft, lustrous polish all over your mane.

Girls, your flat iron is more than just a one-trick pony! Put it to good use and have fun with your hair.
