As Fashion Week season continues in Milan and Paris over the coming weeks, there is one hairstyle trend that was huge in both New York and London that we predict will become a Fall 2014 staple: deep side parts. This look was a big deal at a lot of high-profile shows in the Big Apple, including Rebecca Taylor, Vera Wang and Pamela Roland. The side part swept its way through several runways in London too, such as Topshop, Issa and Temperley.
So, what's so great about side parts? Lots of things, actually. It's a mercifully wearable trend and one that can be incorporated into all kinds of different beauty looks.
Firstly, it can be super practical. On day two, three or even four after washing hair, a deep side part, flipped over the top of the head, can hide unwashed roots and create a fresh frame for your face, essentially creating a whole new style. Secondly, a side part works with all kinds of different hair types and textures and looks great as part of an updo or a loose style.

The other thing that makes side parts so appealing is the fact there are no rules about which side you wear them on. Just go for whatever feels most comfortable and/or showcases your "best" side! Once you've decided on left or right, you might find that you need more than a tail comb and your hands to hold you part where you want it.
After washing: When hair is still damp, define your part with a comb and then blow-dry into place, using Advanced Hairstyle SLEEK IT Frizz Vanisher Cream for a super wearable look. You can then style your locks into an updo or braid for something even more polished.
With dry hair: If you don't want to wash your hair, brush your hair through and then define your part. For a slight wet-look effect, use Advanced Hairstyle TXT IT Deconstructing Gum on the top of your hair, working down the lengths with a comb. For a more natural look, simply mist with Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray for added hold.
Will you be trying a side part anytime soon?
