If you think you may want to get a short haircut but you still aren't 100% sure about it, there's one hairstyle that can help you decide before you commit to a radical new look! We're talking about the faux bob. This glamorous hairstyle is both a red carpet and a Fashion Week favorite, and has been for decades, so it's something of a tried and true 'do.
With a sleek texture and deep side-part, however, this trompe l'oeil updo has a thoroughly modern edge combined with the ability to make other people wonder if you have in fact had your hair cut into a short bob. It's basically a more wearable alternative to the winter hair-tuck trend which only really works for as long as you keep your coat/scarf on.
If you like the look of this hairstyle, keep reading to find out how to get the look (it's surprisingly easy, promise)!
What you need
Advanced Hairstyle SLEEK IT Frizz Vanisher Cream
Blow-dryer
Tail comb
Hair elastic
Bobby pins
Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray
Step one: To get smooth, straight hair to work with, apply Frizz Vanisher Cream and blow-dry with a round brush. Guide the hair straight down and curve it inwards as you dry the ends.
Step two: Take a tail comb and define a deep side part on your favorite side. Tuck the hair on the smallest side behind your ear.
Step three: Gather your hair into a low, loose ponytail at the nape of your neck and secure with a hair elastic. Pull the elastic out, all the way down the lengths of your hair, but stop an inch or two before you reach the ends. Then, roll the elastic inwards, underneath the hair, and then keep rolling until you reach the nape of your neck again. Fix the hair in place with as many bobby pins as you need for it to feel secure.
Step four: Pin the hair on the bigger side of your part back towards your ear with another bobby pin.
Step five: Mist generously with Bold Control Hairspray for long-lasting hold and you're good to go!
After you've tried this gorgeous faux bob, will you be persuaded to try the real thing?
