The holiday season can be pretty brutal on our hair due to a combination of cold weather and over-styling. Sure, you want to show off as many creative party hairstyles as you can, but pulling, brushing, backcombing and covering your hair in products can leave it feeling exactly like you do the next morning! Give your hair some pamper time with these top tips for caring for your locks during the holiday season...
1. Take a day off
Everybody needs a day off now and again, and your hair is no exception. Reserve yourself at least one day a week when you ban the brush and skip out on styling products. Luckily, because the weather isn't usually at its best in winter, you can hide your resting hair under a hat, and no-one will ever know you're not perfectly coiffed!
2. Nourishment
Feed your hair with rich nourishing products in order to give it back its shine and strength. A deep-conditioning mask can make a real difference to the quality of your hair, as can hair oils. Keep your hair type in mind - thin hair needs products designed to thicken and protect, whereas naturally frizzy or curly hair can often do with a good dose of shine-enhancing moisture.
3. Nutrients for the body too
Your hair is a reflection of yourself! When you're feeling down and overtired, it shows in the condition of your locks, so make sure you're getting lots of healthy nutrients in your diet (not so easy when there's a Christmas party every two days!).
4. Professional help
Regular trips to the salon for a quick snip is recommended to keep hair in good condition, especially in the cold winter season. It doesn't mean you have to lose the length, even one centimeter can give your hair more definition and get rid of the split ends.
