Vintage ponytails are always a great idea, whether you want a cute day or nighttime look. A classic 1950s style is one of our favorites because it's chic, pretty and a lot of fun to wear, due to the spring-like coil of the pony itself. It's a great way to put a feminine spin on any ensemble and it's just perfect for the warmer summer months ahead!
Not only that, this pony is also really easy to style...
What you need:
Medium-sized curling iron
Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray
Step one: Brush your hair through to remove any knots then smooth it back into a ponytail. Use the brush to remove any bumps as you do so, giving you a more polished finish later on.
Step two: In two or three sections – you can use more or less depending on the thickness - wrap the hair around a medium-sized curling iron for a few seconds. Release it and glide the rod downward until the hair pops off the top.
Step three: Once the whole pony has been curled, wind the hair around your index finger to unify it into one big ringlet. This is what gives the pony its classic 50s feel.
Step four: Spray some Bold Control Hairspray onto the palm of your hand and smooth down any flyaways on the top and sides of your head. Then, spray the whole style, focusing on the pony. This will give your new style plenty of staying power!
For an added retro twist, why not tie a pretty ribbon around the hair elastic at the base of the pony?
