L'Oréal Paris spokesperson Doutzen Kroes has one of the best red carpet hairstyle repertoires we know of. Currently pregnant with her second child, the Victoria's Secret angel was recently spotted at the 2014 Delete Blood Cancer Gala with this disheveled side braid. It turns out that a little mess can be seriously chic when done properly!
This is a great hairstyle for anyone who wants a pretty night out look, but isn't prepared to go down the wet look road/spend a lot of time styling a complicated updo.
What you need:
Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT Volume Inject Mousse
Blow-dryer
Tail comb
Hair elastic
Bobby pins
Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray
Step one: You should start by building some extra volume into your hair as this will make creating an artfully unkempt easier later on. To do this, scrunch some Volume Inject Mousse evenly through damp hair and rough blow-dry. When the hair is about 90% dry, flip your head upside down and blast the rest. This sounds ridiculous but it's actually a great way to lift the hair at the roots.
Step two: Once dried, take a tail comb and part your hair on your favorite side. Use your hands to sweep your hair over the opposite shoulder.
Step three: Braid your hair loosely, starting from just below your ear. Leave some small sections loose and secure at the ends with a small hair tie at the very ends.
Step four: Use bobby pins to secure any major sections of hair that fall out, and to help shape the hair as you want. Pull the braid out a little with your fingers to loosen it some more.
Step five: Use your fingertips to muss the hair on top of your head then finish with a generous mist of Bold Control Hairspray. This will give your style long-lasting hold, ensuring it lasts as long as you want it to... though we wouldn't advice prolonged and/or excessively vigorous dancing if you want to maintain the 'artful' part of this look.
