During the summer months, updos become something of a staple and, no, we're not just talking about a quick ponytail! In fact, the need to keep your hair up off your face and neck offers up a lot of exciting, not to mention cute, styling options. Take the crown braid, for example.
With a bit of practice, this style is actually pretty straightforward and, with enough pins and hairspray, it'll hold your locks in place all day long!

Clip
Hair ties
Bobby pins

Step one: Brush the hair through before you begin then part your hair in the middle. Split it into two even halves and clip one side up while you work on the other.
Step two: Start braiding from the nape of your neck on the loose side using a French braid technique. Pass each piece underneath the braid rather than over the top as you would for other plaited looks. Work your way around the side of your head, keeping the braid fairly tight.
Step three: Go across the top of your forehead then braid the hair all the way down to the ends and secure with a small elastic. Silly though it both looks and feels, just let it hang over your face while you work on the other half.
Step four: With the B-side, start the braid at the top of your head and work your way around to the nape of your neck. Again, braid all the way down to the ends and tie.
Step five: Wrap the braids around your head to complete your crown and secure with bobby pins. Finish with a mist of Bold Control Hairspray and you're done!
