Combed-forward hair AKA man bangs, yes or no?
From the article : Combed-forward hair AKA man bangs, yes or no?
After a lot of brushed-back men's hair in 2013, 2014 might just be the year of the combed-forward style, otherwise known as man bangs. Much as there isn't really a non-silly way to talk about them, men's hairstyles with bangs, or a fringe, can actually be worn in a way that makes them look good and nothing at all like the Backstreet Boys circa 1995, promise.
First of all, they're a good option for anyone with a receding hairline and a forehead that's big enough not to be overwhelmed. (Check out our guide to choosing the right style for your face shape for more info on that count.)
Secondly, man bangs don't have to be slicked onto your forehead, in fact, they can just be a set of loose curls that fall forward a little – see the guy in the first photo above. Nor do they have to be a particularly dense, face-framing affair, unless you want them to be. Why not try a subtle side-sweep or letting a couple of tousled sections fall beyond your hairline. It's all about experimenting and finding a style that works for you – your hair, your rules.
Thirdly, you can totally sweep them back up off your face, à la Bradley Cooper, if you change your mind about them. You could even grow them right out like Jared Leto if that's more your thing.
As for styling, that's pretty simple. For virtually invisible, low-shine hold, try Advanced Hairstyle TXT IT Deconstructing Gum. Ideal for wavy hair and creating a tousled finish, the gum will keep you bangs in place without weighing the hair down. For a more groomed, matte finish, try Hyper Fix Putty. This is perfect for a smoother, more pulled-together look and, like Deconstructing Gum, it won't overload your hair or leave any residue.
Essentially, man bangs should be thought of as an actual option when you're deciding on a new cut or trying to figure out how to update an old one. Take them for a test drive and who knows, you might just find they look really, ridiculously good on you. Stranger things have happened, right?
