If you have already been browsing the site a little, you may know that we already have a few articles on brushed-back hair. Now, however, it seems this ultra-simple and super chic hairstyle is about to be given trend status, after having graced runways all around Europe as Fashion Week season gets underway once more. It also happens to be a red-carpet-ready style, too!
As far as we can see, there are a whole bunch of reasons why this 'do is getting so much love from designers and celebrity stylists alike. For starters, it's really easy to achieve in a small amount of time. It also keeps hair totally under control, off the face and creates what is essentially a blank canvas to showcase any and every makeup look imaginable. A Swiss Army hairstyle, you might say.
Anyway, if you want to get the look read on because we have some seriously simple instructions for anyone who wants them!
Get the look
There are a few options with bushed-back hair. You can go for a smooth, swept-back style, a wet-look approach and/or incorporate some volume with a slight pomp or bouffant. Your hair is your oyster!
For a simple "dry" style
On damp hair, apply Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT Blow Out HeatSpray and then comb all of your hair backwards. Blow-dry in the same direction, using a comb or brush to guide the hair.
Once everything is dry, apply BOOST IT Lift Creation Spray to your roots to tease a little to give your hair some added lift. Re-spray and comb backwards again. Then, use bobby pins to fix the sides into place or apply a small amount of Advanced Hairstyle TXT IT Hyper Fix Putty to slick them back.
For a bouffant
For this, do exactly the same as for the style above, only when you apply the BOOST IT Lift Creation Spray, use a comb to tease even more volume into your hair to create the bouffant. Accessorize with an Alice band for added detail.
For a wet-look style
This one is even easier. On dry hair, work a small amount of TXT IT Deconstructing Gum through your hair, adding more as you go if necessary. Then, use a comb to sweep your hair back and flatten the sides. For added volume, simply massage the roots and then comb gently over the top for a neat finish.
