Street style is a good place to start if you're looking for a fresh new hairstyle, but it's also a great source of inspiration when it comes to more classic looks, too. Take this volumized bun, for example. It's a simple yet very effective hairstyle that has really stood the test of time, from ancient civilizations via 18th century England to the present day.
The pared down nature of a hairstyle like this really helps to balance a look with dressy or very vibrant attire, as the girl in the photos above can attest to. Her bun also throws extra emphasis on her face and, in conjunction with her XXL sunglasses, makes her bright lipstick the focus of her beauty look.
Essentially, a bun allows for plenty of different clothing and makeup options because it keeps the hair under control and off the face. If you want to try a similar look, keep reading to find out how to get the look in hardly any time at all!
What you need:
Bristle brush
Hair elastic
Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT High Lift Creation Spray
Fine-tooth comb
Bobby pins
Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray
Step one: Using a bristle brush, remove any knots or tangles then smooth the hair back into a high ponytail and secure with a hair elastic.
Step two: Spray the pony all the way down with High Lift Creation Spray. Take a fine-tooth comb and gently tease the pony until it's somewhere between double and triple its original size. Be really gentle when backcombing through the strands, however, to avoid causing split ends and unwanted shaft breakage.
Step three: Twist the now XXL pony and wrap it around into a loose, large bun. Secure with as many bobby pins as you need.
Step four: Mist the style all over with Bold Control Hairspray. To tame any flywaways or frizz on the tops and sides of your head, spray a little into the palm of your hand and then smooth the hair down firmly. That's it!
Now all you have to do is pull a neon ensemble together to wear with your new bun. Happy styling!
