Ah braided updos, part friend, part nemesis, you're both lovely and loathsome at the same time. You promise romance but deliver nothing but finger cramps and a lot of tangled bobby pins in strange places... most of the time. Every now and then however, you become reasonable, accessible and so very pretty we can't help but forget your flaws.
The girl in the photo opposite is sporting a prime example of what we all want from a braided updo – wearability, stylability (not a word but the concept speaks for itself) and something that just looks good. If this sounds like the kind of dreamboat hairstyle you've been looking for, simply follow the tutorial below and it'll be yours for keeps!
Use a tail comb to divide your hair into two equal halves, parting it down the middle.
Next, you need to French-braid the hair on each side of your head. Start with small pieces at the hairline and add more strands as your work your way down to the nape of your neck. If it's easier, clip one side up to keep it out of the way while you work on the other.
Stop braiding once you reach the bottom of your head then gather the lengths of the hair into a low ponytail.
Tease a few strands loose around your face and along the braids to give the style a romantic, fairytale vibe. If you want to loosen the style, place your fingertips under the braids and pull the hair slightly upwards, taking care not to pull it out.
Mist all over with Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray and you're all set!
