After a spectacular string of red carpet appearances at the Cannes Film Festival recently, Blake Lively is keeping up appearances now she's back in the US. At the CFDA Fashion Awards, she opted for a Barbarella-esque 60s hairstyle then the following day, she attended a Chime For Change event with a more low-key contemporary look. It's almost as if she's showing off... but if you had hair like Blake's, why wouldn't you?
The big question is, however, which of the former Gossip Girl's recent red carpet styles do you like best?
The swinging sixties were all about big hair and bold eyes, and at the CFDA Fashion Awards, Blake nailed them both. The L'Oréal Paris spokesperson rocked up to Fashion's equivalent of the Grammys with a voluminous blowout, complete with pretty, retro headband. This wasn't exactly a surprise after her Old Hollywood style at this year's Met Gala or the fact she's been spending a lot of time on the Age of Adaline set in full 1930s attire. Someone get the girl a time machine!
Get the look: Apply Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT Blow Out HeatSpray evenly throughout the hair then dry it in sections using a barrel brush. Wrap the hair around the brush and glide it through to the ends as it dries. Brush the hair then tease at the crown to build volume. Put on your chosen headband and fix with hairspray to finish.
Blake's Chime For Change 'do seemed fairly understated in comparison to her look from the previous evening. This hairstyle was classic and sophisticated, not to mention the eprfect complement to her yellow dress, as well it should have been for an event celebrating another event which celebrated the promotion of women's rights around the world a year beforehand.
Get the look: To recreate this style, do the same as above but only wrap the ends around the barrel brush to set them in a shorter wave. Part the hair on one side once dried then fix with hairspray.
It's quite hard to choose between them but for everyday wearability, Blake's Chime For Change look is probably the stronger option. Having said that, it is always really fun to rock a vintage look!
