As vintage beauty icons go, Brigitte Bardot is undoubtedly one of the best. The epitome of sexy sixties chic, the French actress made big hair a 'thing' long before it ever turned up on numerous runways in 2014. With a whole repertoire of soft, perfectly teased hairstyles, she's a great source of inspiration when it comes to putting a retro spin on what promises to be this year's biggest (literally) hair trend.
By watching the video above, you can find out how to recreate the high-volume Bardot bun. In just a few simple steps, you can master the look and give your own 'do a little 'je ne sais quoi'...
Get the look
Step one
Starting with damp hair, apply L'Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT Blow Out Heatspray evenly throughout, concentrating on the roots. Make sure you get good coverage all over however, as the spray not only aids the styling process but also acts as a heat protectant. (You can find out more about why they're important right here.)
Step two
Blow-dry your hair using a large-barrel round brush.
Step three
Once dried, pull your hair into a high ponytail, securing at the crown.
Step four
Spray the lengths of the pony with BOOST IT High Lift Creation Spray. Tease the ponytail to build more volume, working in separate pieces.
Step five
Brush the pony forwards, fold it over on itself and pin. Next, wrap the ends around the base and pin them, too.
Step six
Fan the bun open then pin it down on either side.
Step seven
Complete the look with a mist of Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Fine Control Hairspray.
What do you think? Will you be channelling your inner Brigitte with this voluminous bun?
