At the Met Gala in 2013, Blake Lively hit the red carpet with an unforgettable bubble ponytail. Her look was perfectly undone, thanks to the tousled texture, creating a hairstyle that was at once chic and playful. More recently, we stumbled across this sleeker, wet-look version of Blake's 'do.
Still subtly unkempt, this pony is a gorgeous look that makes slick hair seem more accessible than ever. If you would like to try this style on for size, simply follow the tutorial below...
What you need:
Advanced Hairstyle TXT IT Deconstructing Gum
Comb
Hair ties
Bobby pins
Step one: Start by working some Deconstructing Gum back through your hair. Warm it in your hands first then use a comb to ensure even distribution. Add more as needed but take care not to overload your hair completely – less is more!
Step two: Comb all of your hair back then smooth it down with your hands. Secure it into a low pony at the nape of your neck with a small hair tie.
Step three: Tie more elastics down the lengths of the pony at 1" intervals. Once tied, pull the hair out to create the bubbles. If you want a more disheveled look, back-comb the pony before you start on the bubbles.
Step four: Use bobby pins to secure any hair that has fallen out at the back or on the sides and you're done!
For a more lightweight feel, spray the hair generously with Advanced Hairstyle SLEEK IT Strand-Smoother Serum Spray then smooth the top of the head down with a palm-full of Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray. This will add shine and tame flyaways, but won't feel as heavy on the strands.
What do you think? Is this wet look pony a style you could see yourself wearing?
