There are all kinds of braided hairstyles out there, including crowns, chignons, buns and pigtails, but one look you may not have considered before comes in the form of a braided center part. At the Tibi Fall 2014 show at New York Fashion Week, models were sent down the runway with a tight French braid straight down the middle of the head, teamed with loose waves along the lengths of the hair. It certainly isn't the kind of hairstyle you see every day but you might find that it's actually quite a wearable look.
The braid itself adds an extra dimension to what is a cute but quite ordinary hairstyle, due to where it sits on the head. This hairstyle is edgy but perhaps subtle enough to wear in a formal setting, as long as the rest of your look is kept fairly minimal. It won't immediately shock your boss, for example, but it might make them look twice.
Essentially, it's quite a cool look that could be just what you need to inject a little extra personality into your regular hairstyle!

For those of you who want to experiment with this look, you might be interested to know that it can be done in only a few minutes! Before you start, apply Advanced Hairstyle SLEEK IT Strand-Smoother Serum Spray to dry hair for an instantly sleek texture to work with.
Use a tail comb to define the small section of hair where you would usually define a center part, then French-braid it tightly all the way from your hairline to the crown of your head. Once the braid is secure, take a large-barrel curling iron and make some big, loose waves down the lengths of your hair. Mist generously with Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray to finish.
