What are milkmaid braids?
Milkmaid braids are one of the most gorgeous braided updos that you can create with medium-length to long hair. Also known as Heidi braids, this plaited 'do looks very pretty and is the perfect lazy answer to intricate braided hairstyles that take a lot of time to create. They comprise two braids wrapped around the head like a headband and are often worn with a sharp middle part.
What to Bear in Mind?
Milkmaid braids take 5-10 minutes to create, depending upon the length of your hair. However, for a perfect finish, your tresses – whether straight, wavy or curly – must be smooth, detangled and frizz-free. You can also create this braided hairstyle with unwashed hair.

Get the Look
Spritz some strand-smoother serum spray all over your hair and comb your tresses to spread the product. The spray will not only make your strands smooth but will also lend them a soft shine.
Create a sharp middle part, starting from your hairline all the way down to the nape of your neck.
Make two regular braids behind your ears and secure them with elastics.
Lift the braids up and wrap them around your head, securing the ends with bobby pins. Conceal each end under the braid on top of it. Ideally, there should be a 2-3" distance between your hairline and your braids.
