Now that New York Fashion Week is over for another season, it's time to take a look back at some of the hottest hairstyles trends on the Fall 2014 runways. One such trend was braided 'dos, ranging from fancy chignons to simple knots and even some tight pigtails at Marc by Marc Jacobs. The one thing that unites some of this coming Fall's best looks is how easy they are to translate into real life. This doesn't necessarily mean copying them strand for strand, but incorporating the general textures and braid styles into your own looks.
With the right techniques and products, you can get ahead of the hair trend game, rocking some of fall's best looks before summer has even begun!
Loose, mussed styles were a big deal at a lot of shows, including Rachel Zoe, Nicole Miller and Zero + Maria Cornejo. With some gentle teasing and creative braid techniques, you can get a super texturized look, too!
Top tip - Apply Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT High Lift Creation Spray to the roots and lengths before teasing for added volume, especially if you have fine hair or locks than tend to lose their shape.
The pigtails at Marc by Marc Jacobs, the half-up knot at Ralph Rucci and the braided buns at Bibhu Mohapatra are all great examples of stricter, sleeker looks for fall. With the exception of the pigtails, these kinds of braid styles are great for work or any particularly formal occasions you may have on the horizon.
Top tip - Run a flat iron through hair after applying Advanced Hairstyle SLEEK IT Iron Straight Heatspray for an ultra-straight, ultra-sleek feel.
Classic, with a twist
At the Honor show, low pigtails were braided with ribbons and then merged to create a kind of intricate pony. At the Marchesa show, cornrows were the order of the day, only with a wistful, slightly romantic texture to soften the look.
Top tip - To give hair a smooth feel, apply Advanced Hairstyle SLEEK IT Strand Smoother Serum Spray after blow-drying. This will encourage a sleek, frizz-free finish.
