Spring is very nearly here so now is the perfect time to start looking at fresh new trends for the coming months. If you have long hair, this is going to be a great season for you because there are a whole bunch of great hairstyles to try. We've picked out five of the best (read: easiest to wear in real life) to help you get inspired.
Beautiful braids
As seen on the runway at Rachel Zoe, Giles and Rebecca Minkoff, braids are big business this spring, and the more 'old world' the braids are, the better. There are a ton of options to choose from, including braided crowns, side braids, tousled braids and more.
Top tip - Style with Advanced Hairstyle TXT IT Tousle Waves Spray before braiding for a relaxed, unkempt texture.
Windswept chic
At Michael Kors, Tom Ford and Rochas, windswept hairstyles took flight on the runway. Tousled, piecey styles were whipped into wispy, ethereal updos. If anything, this is a great excuse for us non-models to rock an "I just fell out of bed" look!
Top tip - Tease hair gently for extra volume with Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT High Lift Creation Spray before creating an updo.
Mixed textures
An all-over wet-look hairstyle can be a little bit too much for everyday wear, so why not try blending it with "dry" waves? At Rag & Bone, Galliano, Max Mara, Balenciaga and Marni, models wore mixed textures, making a decidedly fresh yet very bold statement.
Top tip - To make the slick part of a mixed style as understated as possible, apply a very small amount of Advanced Hairstyle TXT IT Deconstructing Gum to the top section of your hair, allowing it to fade out a few inches down.
Pretty ponies
As simple updos go, it doesn't get much better than a ponytail and, thankfully for us, ponies are IN this spring. As seen at Missoni, Issey Miyake, Creatures of the Wind and Valentino, ornate, detailed ponies are set to be a big deal.
Top tip - Add a little extra detail to put a fresh spin on this hairstyle classic, and secure with Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray for long-lasting hold.
Flowers
Finally, if you like to accessorize for a super feminine hairstyle, you're in luck. Wearing flowers as part of any hairstyle seems to be the done thing this spring. Floral adornments were spotted at shows including Zac Posen, Anna Sui, Dolce & Gabanna and Honor during the Spring 2014 Fashion Weeks.
Top tip - Blow-dry after applying Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT Volume Inject Mousse to give your style extra body and lift.
