Blonde hair has an almost mystical quality. Made famous by fairytale characters and movie stars alike, it's a beautiful way to stand out from the crowd. With only a small percentage of the population sporting naturally straw-colored tresses, you're pretty much guaranteed to, should you go blonde!
There are many different shades, hues, highlights and undertones to consider when contemplating a new color, especially if that color is blonde. Ash colors are a great place to start with a cool yet rich tone.
Often teamed with either highlights or lowlights or both, ashen blondes require styles that show off the depth of color in the hair. You can do this with both up and down looks, and it becomes especially easy when there's some natural-looking texture involved. Wavy and curly haired gals, this might just be the hair color you didn't know you needed!
Below are five different ways to style your hair in order to really make the most of that beautiful color. There are also accompanying tutorials to help you recreate the look. All you have to do is scroll through and get inspired!
A versatile style that works with a lot of different lengths, a French twist is a great go-to option.
Get the look: Tease the hair at the front, smooth it over and pin near the crown before you begin to create a small pomp. With shorter cuts, all you really need to do is tease the lengthier sections then twist and pin everything at the back. With longer hair, brush it all over to one side then pin at the back to hold it there. Folding the hair back on itself, twist and roll it into a banana-like shape and pin. Spray generously with Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray by L'Oréal Paris and you're done!
A huge runway trend in recent seasons, XXL curls are "in" in a big way. Whether you're blessed with a ton of natural movement or you rely on your trusty curling wand to get the job done, this style is a great excuse to have fun with some wonderful texture!
Get the look: With natural curls, apply Advanced Hairstyle CURVE IT Curl Taming Cream to damp hair and dry with a diffuser. Use a wide-tooth comb to brush the hair through then use a curling iron to add more waves where you want them. Part your hair roughly on one side and finish with Bold Control Hairspray.
If you need a little help to make some waves, scrunch some BOOST IT Volume Inject Mousse evenly throughout damp hair. Rough dry on a medium heat setting then curl your locks with a 1 1/2" curling iron. Part your hair on one side and tease the lower layers to build volume if you need to. Again, finish with plenty of Bold Control Hairspray.
L'Oréal Paris spokesperson and Victoria's Secret angel Doutzen Kroes is known for her long wavy locks (not unlike a certain Blake Lively). One of her best styles happens to be these low-key mermaid waves.
Get the look: Spray damp hair with Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT Blow Out HeatSpray then dry it about 60% using a paddle brush or or with a simple rough dry. Take a round brush and wrap a section of hair all the way around it, rolling the brush up as far as your ear. Blast the hair with your dryer and guide the brush through to the ends as you go. As each section pops off the brush, gather it in your hand, spray with Bold Control Hairspray then pin it up to cool. Repeat until all of your hair has been curled then shake it all out. Finger-comb the curls and fix with more Bold Control Hairspray to finish.
A messy bun is a style that anyone with long locks can be seen with at some point during the summer months. Slightly more intricate than a simple topknot, it's a gorgeous look that looks good on just about everyone!
Get the look: Gather all of your hair up into a really high ponytail and secure with a hair tie. Spray the length of the pony with Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT High Lift Creation Spray then gently tease with a fine-tooth comb. Once you've built up some volume, twist and pin the hair into a bun on top of your head. Use your hands to adjust and muss the style until it looks just a little bit disheveled. Finish with Bold Control Hairspray and you're all set!
If it's an easy hairstyle you want, we've got you covered. A simple braided pony is really cute and only takes a couple of minutes to achieve!
Get the look: Run a wide-tooth comb through your hair then gather it all back into a pony. You can tie it high or low, it's all up to you! Braid the pony then secure at the ends with another hair tie. Use your fingertips to loosen the hair on top then finish with a generous mist of Bold Control Hairspray.
