Which messy updo will you try first?

Tousled, disheveled hairstyles are one of this year's biggest hair trends and it's not hard to see why. The seemingly effortless finish, whether left loose or styled into an updo, looks good on just about anyone. Not only that, it's made bed-head chic something you can totally get away with at work!

We've put together a list of five different ways to style a messy 'do so you can really make the most of all that carefree movement, even when you want it up and out of the way. Each one has an easy-to-follow tutorial to go with it so you can get the look at home.

All you have to do is scroll through and decide which one you'll try first...

Topsy turvy topknot

This magically mussed look is a great way to give you regular topknot an update. One of the best things about this style is that frizz and flyaways aren't an issue, in fact they actually help matters! Dress it up with a bold ip color or stay fresh-dashed for a relaxed day off look.

How to style: Spray your hair with L'Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT High Lift Creation Spray and tease to build some volume. Gather your hair and pin into a messy chignon right on top of your head. Tease some pieces loose to frame your face at the front the pull some small sections free from the chignon to soften the look. Spray your style all over with Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray and you're all set!

Low chignon

This style is a slightly more pulled-together version of the one above. As you can see, the difference with this style is that the knot is pinned a lot lower, near the nape of the neck. It's perfect for a glamorous yet undone evening look and is so useful for showing off a backless dress!

How to style: Brush your hair through then part it on one side. Spray the lower layers with BOOST IT High Lift Creation Spray then tease to build volume. Pin your hair up into a low chignon, working in sections then finish with a generous mist of LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray.

Ribbon braid

If you want to add detail to your hairstyle but can't decide what kind of accessories to go for, why not try weaving a ribbon into a tousled ponytail braid? It's a lot of fun but, with a grown-up black or neutral ribbon, it's also a great way to change up your look for a formal occasion.

How to style: Spray damp hair with L'Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle TXT IT Tousle Waves Spray evenly throughout then blow-dry in large twisted chunks. This will create loose, tumbling waves that will give the braid it's gorgeous texture. If you have naturally curly hair, apply Advanced Hairstyle CURVE IT Elastic Curl Mousse and dry with a diffuser instead.

Once dried, spray the hair on top of your head with BOOST IT High Lift Creation Spray and tease to get some extra height. Smooth the hair back and tie into a high pony, securing the ribbon under the tie. loosely braid your hair down to the ends and tie again. Muss your style as desired with your hands then finish with LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray.

Understated chic

As seen on glamorous actress and L'Oréal Paris spokesperson Zoe Saldana, an understated wavy updo is perfect for just about any occasion. Whether you have a job interview, a wedding to attend or a party to go to, this style has you covered.

How to style: Use a 1 1/2" curling iron to make waves throughout your hair then use a wide-tooth comb to part your hair slightly off-center. At the crown, spray the roots with BOOST IT High Lift Creation Spray and tease to add a little extra volume, as if you were creating a mini beehive. Gather your hair loosely back and pin into a French twist. Spray with LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray and you're all set.

Tousled bun

For the ultimate laid back look, a simple tousled bun might be the easiest style you can 'do.

How to style: Dry your hair in large twisted pieces after applying Tousle Waves Spray. Once dried, gather it all back and hold it as if you were going to tie it into a ponytail. Shake or tease some pieces loose then go ahead and actually tie it into a pony. Twist the 'tail into a bun and secure with bobby pins. Loosen things up by lifting the hair at the root with your fingertips then spray with LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray to finish.
