Mastering the perfect blowout is easy when you know what not to do!

Ever wondered why your at-home blowout doesn't quite match up to the gloriously bouncy 'do you leave the salon with? It could have something to do with a few bad habits we're all guilty of, especially when bleary-eyed in the morning before caffeine happens.

Once you know what not to do, you'll master the perfect DIY blowout in no time!

1/ 1. Skipping heat protection

Thermal protectants are essential for all heat styling as they create a protective barrier between your strands and the damage-inducing heat from your tool of choice.

Try something like L'Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle BOOST IT Blow Out Heatspray or SLEEK IT Frizz Vanisher Cream to enhance your style while keeping it happy and healthy!

2/ 2. Using the wrong brush

Though not strictly a cardinal sin, using the wrong brush can make blowdrying more difficult than it needs to be. A paddle brush will give you a smooth finish, while round brushes should be reserved for bouncier curves.

Top tip - Use both: dry your hair most of the way with a paddle brush then use a round brush to curve the ends later on.

3/ 3. Using the wrong attachment

Dryers come with a myriad selection of different nozzles, all of which do different things (yes, exactly like a vacuum cleaner). As a general rule, stick to the concentrator as it focuses the heat without whipping up a frizz storm.

4/ 4. Not working in sections

Sectioning your hair lends some method to the styling madness. Divide your hair into four parts and dry the hair on top first to add more volume, then work your way down.
