New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2014 has only just begun and, already, there are more inspiring hairstyles in the Big Apple than you can shake a barrel brush at. Take the Wildfox runway, for example. Models with long, flowing tresses were sent on their merry way down the catwalk, with many sporting flowers in their hair. These super feminine looks just screamed "Spring!" at the top of their pretty little lungs and double as an antidote to the seemingly interminable winter we're having...

It's also really nice to see floral accessories that don't make the people who wear them look like little kids!

Easy accessories

There were three main styles from this show that really caught our wannabe-florist's eye. One was a traditional headband with small white flowers, another involved the same tiny blooms distributed throughout the hair and the third was a more high-impact headband with pink roses. All three styles were very pretty, and all three could very easily be translated into a wearable 'do for the coming spring.

(FYI - in real off-the-runway life, you will probably want to use fake flowers, unless you have an unlimited supply of fresh, beautiful flowers)

Floral crowns are definitely the easiest to wear as you just need to place them over a simple, loose hairstyle, as you would with a regular headband, and you're done! Wearing flowers throughout your hair can be trickier.

If you have the time, by all means construct an intricate look like the on worn by a model in the second picture above. The easiest way to do it is by braiding small sections of hair and then threading or clipping small flowers into them.

Top tip - Flowers help to create a really romantic look; so, before you figure out which look you want to try, style some relaxed waves into your tresses. After towel-drying hair, apply Advanced Hairstyle TXT IT Tousle Waves Spray. Take a half-inch section of hair and twist it, then blow-dry completely. Repeat on the rest of your hair and finger-comb to reveal loose, beachy waves.
